Next-gen sequencing approach to identify diseases from bone samples

A new technology that uses a next-gen sequencing approach, including hybridization capture technology, to analyze gene sequences within seconds to identify diseases accurately. Scientists used the technique to identify tuberculosis (TB) genes in a 19th century female skeleton found in a crypt in Leeds.

How this technology will help?

§      It will help in understanding how the disease has evolved over time.

§      It will help improve treatments and vaccines.
