Five New Non-Permanent Member Countries on UNSC


The UN General Assembly elected five new non-permanent members to the Security Council. The New Members are:    
1. South Korea
2. Luxembourg
3. Argentina
4. Australia
5. Rwanda
The newly elected member countries will have 2-year term in UN body that will begin on January 1, 2013.
The members which will be replaced are Colombia, Germany, India, Portugal and South Africa, whose term ends on December 31, 2012.


The others Non permanent members in Security Council are Azerbaijan ,Guatemala , Morocco ,Pakistan ,Togo from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2013.

Ans : The permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, also known as the Permanent Five, Big Five, or P5, include the following five governments: China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The members represent the great powers considered the victors of World War II . Each of the permanent members has power to veto, enabling them to prevent the adoption of any “substantive”draft Council resolution, regardless of the level of international support for the draft.
